międzygórze.

What do the Four Tankers and a Dog, Our Lady of Snow and Swiss style of architecture have in common?

Międzygórze.

I've already written about the distant continent, about my beloved Spain and now there came a time to finally mention one of the most charming places in the Polish mountains I visited.

It's a village in the administrative district of Gmina Bystrzyca Kłodzka, within Kłodzko County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. According to the last data, there are 700 inhabitants.

The history of the place dates back to the XIX century, when the lands surrounding the Massif of Śnieżnik were acquired by Princess Marianne of Orange-Nassau, the wife to Prince Albert of Prussia. She set to developing Międzygórze, consequently transforming it into a popular holiday destination. In XIX century a competitive centre for treatment of lung diseases was created by Doctor Janisch of Jawor.  The spa enjoyed a huge popularity which resulted in its extension by further facilities. The building exists until today with the name of OW Gigant.

The rank and popularity of Międzygórze was constantly growing. It was then that a branch of the GGV, a tourist organisation operating during these times, was established here, further trails to Śnieżnik, Igliczna, and Puchaczówka Pass were marked.

The unique qualities of the town were appreciated not only by tourists and holidaymakers, but also by filmmakers. What's interesting, the famous polish tv series called "The Four Tankers and A Dog" was shot exactly in this place! Have you heard about it before?

This place is perfect for everyone: for children, families, teenagers, adults... Everyone would find something for himself. You can rest in the luxury spa with a breathtaking view to the wonderful Sudety, eat something from the traditional polish cuisine, but if you are a fan of climbing and exploring, you will definitely enjoy the paths to the Massif of Śnieżnik.

On the way to the peak you can rest in one of the albergues enjoying the taste of the dumplings and the mulled wine. The people are always very open so I am certain that you won't go out without any good conversation.

I think that Międzygórze is an uncovered place. Have you ever been there? Do you like polish mountains? Share your experiences below :)
